Clinique's Turnaround Instant Facial Mask

I've never been much of a fan of masks but I do them weekly just because I feel I should and I must admit my skin does look a bit better. I love the No7 Hot Cloth Cleanser when I have a cold - it feels soothing to have a nice warm flannel on your face when your nose is all bunged up. I would love to try sheet masks at some point but haven't got round to making an order yet!

The facial mask I use at the moment is the Clinique's Turnaround Instant Facial Mask which I picked up a while ago. I've been using this once a week and there's about a quarter left. There is 75ml in the tube and costs £33 which I think is quite expensive for a mask.

As with most Clinique products they all come in the standard green box. The tube is bright blue instantly brightening up my bathroom cabinet. It is a squeezy tube so you can keep it in the shower without water getting all into it. The tube feels smooth and the sleek silver cap feels expensive. Which is nice when you need a bit of pampering. For my face and neck I normally use about two pea sizes.

What it says on the back:

No annoying smells with this mask.

The product is light blue colour (so you can look a bit like a smurf) and is full of little gritty bits that helps with the exfoliation. I use this only once a week if my skin feels drier than normal especially in the winter. I feel it can be a bit harsh if I use it more than once a week due to the exfoliation which can actually feel quite irritating when applying.

The bit about 'promotes surface cell turnover on multiple levels' means it will rip your skincells out. Sorry I might have exaggerated a bit there but unless you rinse it with warm water at 5 minutes and no longer then it can feel like that. This is cause the mask by that point has dried out. I did that once by mistake (left it on for 10 minutes and the mask had dried up so much it was sore to remove and left my skin a bit raw...)

I normally apply this a few minutes before I shower then wash it off while showering. This is a nightmare to remove by the sink. The gritty mask doesn't wash off easily and you can easily spend a few minutes bent over the sink cleaning this off.

The mask also leaves glitter all over your face if you don't wash it properly. When I first washed it over the sink I thought i got all of it off but when I checked the mirror my face was like a glitterball! It was horrible! I guess that's what they mean by leaving you skin "more vibrant".

I have been using this mask for almost 6 month now and while my skin does feel smoother after using it, I don't think it's the right mask for dry skin. Despite being told it suits all skin types. Also for the price there are definitely better and cheaper exfoliating masks out there. Clinique products are so hit and miss!

It does leave a glitter film over your face! I thought I was the only one! Ahah. I didn't really like the product unfortunately. I would rather just exfoliate with a normal exfoliator!
